An "exciting" weekend...
Aidan started out with a cold Friday PM, but we thought it was pretty mild. We laid him down for his nap on Saturday afternoon, and I noticed about 45 minutes later that his cheeks were scarlet red with fever.... I checked on him again a few minutes later, and he was having a seizure. We called 9-1-1 and went to the hospital. His temperature was 104 degrees, so this was the cause of the seizure (he hadn't felt warm when we put him down for the nap...but the rapid change in temperature is what causes the febrile seizure).
He was back to his normal little silly self about 3 hours later in the ER, and unhappy about the IV in his hand. Quite a traumatic experience for us all! Needless to say, Sunday has really turned into a day of rest.
We were reassured that he will be fine, although at higher risk for another seizure with a high fever jump again is still possible. We are very thankful that he is OK, and counting our blessings.
